Dyersville, Ia. – Reynold (Ray) Arens, 56, of Dyersville died at 12:45 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Friends may call at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; from 1950-58 he was a member of the Dyersville City Council; and from 1934-55 he was a member of the Dyersville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was born in Dyersville on June 7, 1904, son of William and Mary (Schirmer) Arens. He married Hilda Vaske on June 14, 1932 at New Vienna, Ia. He was employed at Scherman Implement and Appliance Company, Dyersville, as an electrician and refrigeration man.

Survivors include two sons, David, Coralville, Ia.; William, Hiawatha, Ia.; three brothers, Herb and Art, both of Dyersville; Urban, Fort Madison, Ia.; four sisters, Mrs. Herman (Hildegarde) Schueth, Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Alma Henderson, Marion, Ia.; Mrs. E. V. (Martha) Willenborg, Dyersville; Mrs. Bernard (Alberta) Fahey, Dubuque.

The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.
