Victoria -- A lifetime Victoria resident, Genevieve (Genny) Sander, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 26 at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays.

She was born March 11, 1899 in Victoria, the daughter of Alois A. and Clementine Billinger Sander.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Sophia Dreiling and Mrs. Adam (Barbara) Knoll, both of Victoria, Lucina Sander, LaCrosse, and Mrs. Eddie (Catherine) Herman, Scott City; two brothers, Sil, Sacremento, Calif., and Al, McPherson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Father Gene Emrisek officiating; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery. Parish wake service will be 8 p.m. Thursday at Cline’s Mortuary, Victoria. Friends may call after 7 tonight until the the hour of service at the morturary.

My daughter-in-law's family history, and some research show that Genevieve was an adopted daughter in this family. The story is that she was born in New York, and came thru Kansas on one of the orphan trains.
