A heavy equipment operator, he was a former McPherson resident, and a Wichita resident for 40 years. He moved to Victoria in 1986. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers an Hoisting nd Portable Engineers Local 101, both at Wichita. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church at Victoria, and the American Legion at Hays.
Survivors include a brother, Sil Sander, Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Katie Herman, Hays.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clem Sander; and five sisters, Genevieve Sander, Sophia Dreiling, Lucina Sander, Lorinda Sander and Barbara Knoll.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cline's Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, with Father Frank X. Grinko presiding. Friends may call form 7 to 9 p.m. today, 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial with military honors conducted by the Hays American Legion will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with St. Fidelis Catholic Church and St. Fidelis Cemetery Fund.
