John Demler, 73, of 751 W. 10th Ave., died Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. at his home, following an illness of one year. He was born in Austria on Nov. 22, 1889, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Demler, and came to Oshkosh with his parents when a child. He was married at St. Vincent Catholic Church to Miss Louise Peckman on Jan. 26, 1910. Mr. Demler had been employed by the Morgan Co. before his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Louise; seven daughters, Mrs. Burton Eichman, Mrs. Daniel Weitz, Mrs. John Bartow, Mrs. Andrew Gerth, Mrs. Herbert Ziebell Jr., Oshkosh, Mrs. Marian Brans, Omro, and Mrs. Kenneth Nichols, Fond du Lac; seven sons, Joseph, Albert, Robert, Clifford, Harold, John and Richard Demler, Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mugerauer and Mrs. Ella Ritchey, Oshkosh; 50 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Five infant children preceded him in death, as well as three brothers, George, Frank and Jacob.
Services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Poklasny Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with Msgr. Louis M. Schorn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Mugerauer, Albert Demler, Clarence Spanbauer, Michael Stieg, Alfred Selwitschka and Robert Stieg.
