Robert L. "Bob" Cerny, 79, North Bend, died Friday, October 9, 2009, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. Born at Weston, Neb. 6/8/1930 to the late Otto and Helen (Spicka) Cerny. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and served on active duty from 1952-1954. He also served in the Navy Reserve Seabees from 1973-1977. He operated Cerny Auto Body Shop, Cerny Wrecker Service and Cerny Salvage, all in North Bend. He served as a volunteer firefighter.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; three sons, Michael Cerny, Elkhorn; Steve Cerny and Tom Cerny, both of North Bend; three daughters, Colette Stoltenberg, Omaha; Diane Treat and Jeanne Fredrickson, both of North Bend; two brothers, Richard Cerny of Lincoln; Gary Cerny of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Essay of Omaha; Betty Turner of Weston, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (10/13/09) at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. Closed casket visitation at the church Monday from 2:30-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, North Bend. Military Honors at the cemetery. Memorials to St. Charles Catholic Church, North Bend Library Building Fund, Cottrell Greens Arboretum, North Bend, Moser Bluff Veterans Park. Moser Memorial Chapel, North Bend.
