MARIA AVARISTA, 104, of Home Avenue died yesterday at Roger Williams Hospital. She was the widow of Antonio Avarista.

Born in Isernia, Provence of Campobasso, Italy, a daughter of the late Michael and Vincenza (Verna) Campana, she came to this country in 1915, and lived in Providence for many years.

Mrs. Avarista was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church.

She leaves a daughter, Irma Tortolani of Providence, with whom she made her home; a son, Louie Avarista of Cranston; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was mother of the late Mario V., Joseph, Delia Avarista, and sister of the late Angelina Rossi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, Knight Street. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
