Maria immigrated with her family to America in 1846. They arrrived in New York on the Ship Leontine on September12, 1846. Her parents Frank and Barbara Seibert Pfeifer came with Maria, her brother Frank, a sister Anna, John and Jacob. Her sister Anna married Jacob Schneider who came to America some years later.. They married in Louisville, Ky as did Anna Pfeifer and Jacob Schneider brother to Peter. For some reason Jacob did not immigrate until 1852.
