MADISON - Tirzah G. Godding, age 87, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. She was born on June 29, 1916, in Lodi, the daughter of Thomas and Dena (Olsen) Oyen. She married William "Abbey" Godding on June 29, 1938, in Madison. She worked at St. Matthew's Day Care Center, retiring in 1978. Tirzah enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the friends in her building. Her hobbies included knitting scarves for the homeless, baking and cooking, and she loved animals and flowers. She loved being Norwegian, especially lutefisk and lefse. Tirzah is survived by her children, June (Richard) Sarbacker of Madison, Gary (Christopher Warzynski) Godding of Madison, Lori Godding (fiance Dennis Prochnow) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Nancy (Tom) Noel of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Abbey", in 1992; her son, Gordon, in 1989; her brothers, Harry Oyen, Glen Oyen, George Oyen and Dwain Oyen; and her sisters, Chestina Oyen, Mabel Johnson, Gladys Dulin and Hazel Jamieson. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Baumann presiding.
