MADISON — Mabel O. Johnson, age 95, of Madison, died on April 9, 1996, at a local nursing home. She was born on June 21, 1900, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas and Dena (Olson) Oyen. She owned and operated the Southside Beauty Shop until her retirement in 1986. She married Elmer Johnson in 1923. Elmer preceded her in death in 1960. She was a member of Saint Marks Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, Elmer (Dolores) Johnson; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Chestina Oyen of Madison, Russell (Minnie) Oyen of Lodi, Tirzah Godding of Madison, Irene (Phil) Lange of Florida and Elenore Scherbel of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Harry, Duane [Dwain], George and Glen; and two sisters, Hazel and Gladys. Funeral services will be held at SAINT MARKS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 605 Spruce Street, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 1996, with Reverend Greg Gullicksrud officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
