Heart attack fatal to Elyria Business Man, Had Attended to His Duties at the Office in the Morning
A sudden heart attack yesterday afternoon took the life of Alex P. Parsch, 66 vice president of the Parsch Lumber and Coal Company.
He died in the presence of his wife and family who were at his bedside at 4:30 p.m. when the attack, which he first noticed a few hours before, became fatal.
He attended to his duties at the office in the morning as usual. When he returned home about 11 a.m. he complained of an uncomfortable feeling. He went to bed and a physician was called, but his condition did not seem serious at the time. The physician left some medicine and was to return in the evening.
Spent Life Here
Parsch was born and raised in Elyria. At the termination of his schooling he became actively engaged in the lumber business which his father started here in 1873.
His industry, coupled with the efforts of his brothers, W.P. and J.C. Parsch, resulted in a prosperous expansion of the business. W.P. Parsch, the elder brother who was president of the business, died three years ago. J.C. Parsch then became president and Alex became vice president.
Although he lived a quiet private life, he was an interested member in the Knights of Columbus, the Woodmen of the World and Elks lodges.
He is survived by his widow, and two daughters, Eleanor, and Helen, both teachers in Lakewood schools, by a sister, Mrs. Joseph Tyler, Cleveland and by his brother, J.C. Parsch.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church Saturday at 9 a.m.
