The daughter of Rufus and Ruth Steffen, she was born at Britt on Aug. 28, 1927. She married John Hefley on May 22, 1945. She had lived in Omaha for 15 years, and lived at Waukee for many years prior to that. She was a dispatcher for Cornhusker Motor Lines in Omaha and a member of the Waukee Christian Church.
Mrs. Hefley was preceded in death by her parents, by one sister, by one brother and by one granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, John; a son, John Jr. of California; a daughter, Carolyn Atkins of Jamaica; two sisters, Viola Neubauer of Waukee and Esther Brock of Renwick; two brothers, Warren Steffen of Des Moines and Robert Steffen of Apple Valley, Minn.; and five grandsons.
