Carl C. Zeiler, 78, 8353 East U.S. 34, died Dec. 13 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver.
He was born Sept. 29, 1909, to Conrad and Marie Barbara Uhrich Zeiler. He attended schools in Loveland and Johnstown. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1928 and attended the University of Colorado. He married Clara Herter Dec. 16, 1934, at the bride’s home near Johnstown.
He was a farmer and lived east of Loveland all of his life. He was a member of the Soil Conservation District and Farm Bureau and was very active in the First Congregational Church in Loveland.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Zeiler; sons, Steven C. Zeiler and wife, Shari, east of Loveland, David C. Zeiler, D.V.M., and wife, Donna, Cabin John, Maryland, and Tim Zeiler, Littleton; daughters, Connie Spreng and husband, Elvin D., east of Loveland, and Margaret M. Dodds and husband, Lt. Col. Robert E., U.S. Air Force, Burke, Va.; a brother, Sam Zeiler and wife Florence, east of Loveland; sisters, Rachel Amen and husband, Carl and Katherine Uhrich, Loveland; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Harold, and Jacob Zeiler, and a sister, Lydia Lebsack.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Lanning Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church.
