Rachel Amen
Rachel Z. Amen, 89, of Loveland died Friday, June 20, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
Born Dec. 14, 1907, in Loveland to Conrad and Marie Barbara (Uhrich) Zeiler. Mrs. Amen graduated from Loveland High School in 1926.
On Aug. 29, 1928, she married Carl H. Amen in Golden. He died Aug. 3, 1993.
Mrs. Amen attended Colorado State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado. A homemaker, she helped her family with their farm.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Loveland, Mrs. Amen belonged to the circle of the United Methodist Women and the Keystone Club and was a charter member of the Women’s Society for Christian Service.
Mrs. Amen was a founder of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Johnstown, Kelim Koenig Club, Zealous Workers Club, Coterie Club and the Antique Club of Loveland. She was very active in 4-H Club, served on the 4-H board in Weld County and was a judge in several county fairs in the area of home economics.
Survivors are a daughter, Joyce Mayberry of Littleton; two sons, Paul Amen of Denver and Dr. Charles Amen of Englewood; a brother, Sam Zeiler of Loveland; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Loveland. Interment will be in Loveland Burial Park.
At the family’s request the casket will not be opened, but friends may stop by Allnutt Hunter Chapel in Loveland from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to sign the guest book.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Loveland in care of Hunter Chapel.
