JOHN JAECKELS passed away Monday morning at his home at the age of fifty-four years. He was taken sick about a week ago with a severe cold. Pneumonia set in and his condition grew worse until the hour of his death. His sudden death was a shock to the entire community as few of his friends were aware of his illness.

The deceased was born in the town of Woodville on November 21, 1869. He resided there with his parents and on Oct. 4, 1904 he was married to Miss Susan Diedrich at St. John. They took up housekeeping on his father’s homestead and resided there up to the time of his death. His wife preceded him in death four years ago, leaving in his care seven children.

His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives, the sorrow being double as the children are left without the tender care of a father or mother.

The funeral will take place Thursday from the home with services at St. John’s church at St. John.

He leaves surviving seven children, Sylvester, Norman, Lawrence, Marcella, Othmar, Ornolf and Mavina, one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Ferd Klinzing of New Holstein, Peter at home, Miss Anna Jaeckels of Milwaukee, Mrs. Albert Schimmer of San Francisco.
