La Eva "Babe" Kolker, 70, of Le Mars died unexpectedly Thursday, May 6, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday, with a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

The former La Eva Wilberding was born June 8, 1933 in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Francis "Dingy" and Marie (Knott) Wilberding. She grew up in the town of Marcus, Iowa and graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School. Babe then attended business school at A.B.I. in Sioux City and was employed with Wincharger.

Le Eva Wilberding married Donald Kolker on June 8, 1954 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux City for several years and then moved to Le Mars in the early 1960s. Over the years, Babe had been employed with various businesses in Le Mars including Gambles, Cora Hilger, Sieverding-Walsh Hardware, Timmy's Catering and recently with Hardware Hank.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Babe was an avid gardener and homemaker and enjoyed canning and baking cookies.

Survivors include three children, Steve Kolker and his wife, Janet of Le Mars, Linda Flakne and her husband, David of Madison, Wis. and Denise Olson and her husband, Rob of Monument, Colo.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Wilberding of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Shaun and Sydney Olson; two sisters, Joan Barry and Sharon Hueser; and a nephew, Randy Hueser.
