Helena Raeben was born at Oldenburg, Germany, April 28, 1868. She came to America in 1896 and the same year was married to John Bentjen at Pender, Neb. Soon after their marriage they moved to Boone county where they had since made their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Bentjen went to California March 7, 1927, on account of the latter's health.
Seven children were born into this family: Ellen, John, Frieda, William, Lena and Herman. One child died in infancy.
Mrs. Bentjen was a member of the Lutheran church, having been confirmed in 1882 in Germany. She was one of the older members of the Zion Lutheran church.
The body was brought to Albion for interment. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Beckmann. Floral offerings were profuse, evidencing the respect and esteem in which the deceased was held here.
