Jacob Jake Lesser
Jacob Jake Lesser, 85 of Caldwell, died Tuesday, March 30,1999 in a Nampa hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5, 1999 at Grace Lutheran Church, Caldwell, with Pastor Philip Bohlken officiating. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Jake was born April 2, 1913 to John and Anna Bott Lesser in a German settlement in Frank, Russia. He came to the United States with his family when he was one year old. They settled in Loveland, Colorado. He was raised and educated in Colorado. In 1941 he married Esther Brunmeier in Loveland, Colorado at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the same church he was confirmed in. He served over three years in the U.S. Army during W.W. II with the 95th Division. He was transferred out of the Infantry because of a broken ankle, then he served as an M.P. guarding German Prisoners of War. He was discharged in January 1946. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 6 of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was also a life member of the Disabled Americans Veterans of Nampa. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad at Cheyenne for 35 years. He retired in 1967 and moved to Caldwell after retirement in 1984.
He loved fishing and the outdoors. He especially loved fishing on Snowy Range Wyoming, west of Laramie, with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Lesser of Caldwell; a brother, Adolph Lesser of Greeley, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister, as well as both parents.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Jakes name to Grace Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, ID 83605.
Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.
