The funeral for Mabel C. Holtz, 87, of New Rockford was held Sat. at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in New Rockford. Interment was in Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. She died July 1, 1997 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Rev. Doug Larson officiated. Doreen Taylor was organist & Garth Allmaras was vocalist. Pallbearers were Brian & Mike Studt, Brad Kuehl, Steven Frank, Jeff Olson, Terry Lawrence, Robbin Hagen, Michael Potts & Paul Holtz. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Green, Craig Ramanowski, Howard Smith, Frederick Johnson Jr., Don Holtz, Harry Salisbury, Esther Leichtman, Ruth Holtz & Alma Johnson. The Evans Funeral Home of New Rockford was in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Caroline Holtz was born March 1, 1910 in rural Benson County to Frederick & Tilla Nesset Johnson. She attended school in Benson County. On June 6, 1932 she married William Holtz at Minnewaukan. They settled on a farm near New Rockford & farmed until retiring about 1972. They moved into New Rockford in 1974. He died June 17, 1985. She worked for Craig's Floral for 5 years & for the Green Thumb program for 13 years until retiring at the age of 83. She moved into Heritage House in New Rockford in 1996.
She enjoyed playing bingo & raising flowers.
Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Willard & Beverly Holtz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Donna & Raymond Frank of Sidney Mont., Shirley & Neal Skovholt of Mooreton & Carol & Gerald Kuehl of Moorhead, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Frederick Jr. & Alma Johnson of Minnewaukan & Ronald & Eunice Johnson of Greenacres, Wash.; & 5 sisters & a brother-in-law, Gena Remington of Spokane, Wash.. Hilda Bily of Eugene, Ore., Anna Ashford of Kirkland, Wash., Margaret Darling of Port Angeles, Wash. & Lillian & Harry Salisbury of Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, 3 sisters & a granddaughter.
