Man Succumbs While Playing Baseball
Stephen Makowski, 52, of 193 Lakeview Ave. died last night [July 19] after a heart attack. He was stricken while playing baseball on Barry Park on Wescott St.
Ptl. Bernard Tone was called and administered oxygen and Dr. Donald Samson of 609 Broad St. attempted to revive the victim. He died before he could be taken to a hospital.
A native of Poland, Mr. Makowski lived 50 years in Syracuse. He was employed by the New York Central Railroad. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Sara Makowski and Mrs. Carmen Pirro, two brothers, James and Sigmund Makowski, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements in the care of the Giminski Funeral Home are incomplete.

His father was Peter Makowski who was 38 years old and born in Poland about 1887. Peter was the head of a household residing at 193 Lakeview Avenue in Syracuse, NY. He worked as a laborer in a steel mill. His wife was Frances Makowski, 36 years old, born about 1889 in Poland. She worked as a housewife.
