He arrived in New York on the Ship Leontine on September12, 1846. He came to America with his son Peter Schneider. They traveled with Frank and Barbara Seibert Pfeifer family and their children Maria, Frank, Anna, John and Jacob. Their daughters Anna and Maria married his sons Jacob and Peter. They lived in Louisville, Ky before coming to Indiana. We don't know where he is buried but believe that he is buried here at Saint Michaels near his brother Phillip Schneider His brother Philipp Schneider and his family came to America on the ship St. Nicolas from the port at Havre and arrived in New York on 27 August 1853. (Germans to America, List of Passengers Arriving at U.S. Ports 1850-1855, Vol. 5, by Glazier and Filby, P. 337) Philipp and Martin were the sons of Michael and Anna Maria Peters Schneider from They all settled in Perry County, Indiana. They all immigrated from Selbach, Sankt Wendel, Saarland, Germany. Jacob came in 1852 several years later than his father Martin.
