Joseph J. Mack August 20, 2006
Joseph J. Mack, of Westvale, died Sunday after a brief illness. Joseph served as a Marine on Green Island in the Pacific during WW II. He attended Syracuse University on the GI Bill and after completing 40 years of service and retired from NY TEL. He was an avid SU football fan, and was a member of many civic organizations and boards.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Raymond) Parenteau, Mary Mack Dorsey; son, William Mack and fiancee Susan Haley and daughter Barbara Czornij, all of the Syracuse area. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet C. Mack, and sons, Joseph J. Mack Jr. and Daniel C. Mack. He will be missed by his 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and loving companion, Carol Tingley. He leaves behind many good friends and neighbors.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Charles Church Food Pantry, 417 Orchard Rd., Syracuse , 13219
