Paul's death is listed in the Jevnaker parish "Death and burial" records: Poul Olsen Carlsrud, 39 years old, tenant-farmer.
Note 1: In Paul's case, the records do not state the cause of death.
Note 2: Paul may have been buried at the Jevnaker church cemetery since his death is listed in the parish records; however, I could not find Paul's grave marker at this cemetery. It may be that (a) I missed seeing the grave marker, (b) there was no one left to take care of the grave so the marker disappeared over time, or (c) he is buried elsewhere.
Paul married Else Gulbrandsdatter on 11 November 1834 in Jevnaker parish, Oppland County. The records show the following:
Bachelor Poul Olsen Carlsrud, 23 years old, married to
Maiden Else Gulbrandsdatter Prestegaarden, 29 years old.
Note: "Prestegaarden" is the priest / minister's farm.
Else Gulbrandsdatter was born March 1805 and was christened 27 March 1805 in Norderhov parish in Buskerud County. Her family first tenant-farmed under Aslaksrud in Norderhov and then moved to Jevnaker and settled under Rønnerud-eie farm.
Paul and Else likely planned to emigrate from Norway to the USA but Paul died. On 13 May 1850, Else and the children--Gulbrand, Ole, and Johanne--left for America.
Note: The surname Carlsrud / Karlsrud refers to the farm the family had as a residence. If the family moved from one farm to another farm, most likely they would change their surname to the last farm they moved to. In Norway in the 1800s people could choose if they wanted to use just the patronymic (meaning the father's first name as the source for their surname) or the farm name -- or both. Sometimes Paul uses both the patronymic (Olsen) and the farm name (Carlsrud / Karlsrud).
