Joseph G. H. Brever was born October 30, 1863 at Burlington, WI. In 1880 he came to Minnesota and settled on a farm in Ward which remained his home through the years. He married Crescenthia Steinbighler at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Browerville on November 7, 1889. They had 14 children, one child dying in infancy. The children were: Edward Brever, Henry Brever, Helen Brever (Nick Weber)and Evelyn Brever (Stephen Henneck) of Long Prairie, Dora Brever (Mike Sackmeister) and Mary Brever (Sarff) of Duluth, Lawrence Brever of Ward, Anna Brever (Ed Stish) of Browerville, and Gerhard, Grace, Elmer, Aloysious, and Clarence. This information was from an newspaper article from November 7, 1939 which marked their 50th wedding anniversary. At that time they had 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
