Crescenthia Steinbighler was born in Germany on August 12, 1874. In 1885 she came to the United States with her parents, her family making its home on a farm near Browerville. She married Joseph G. H. Brever at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Browerville on November 7, 1889. They had 14 children, one child dying in infancy. The children were: Edward Brever, Henry Brever, Helen Brever (Nick Weber)and Evelyn Brever (Stephen Henneck) of Long Prairie, Dora Brever (Mike Sackmeister) and Mary Brever (Sarff) of Duluth, Lawrence Brever of Ward, Anna Brever (Ed Stish) of Browerville, and Gerhard, Grace, Elmer, Aloysious, and Clarence. This information was from a newspaper article from November 7, 1939 which marked their 50th wedding anniversary. At that time they had 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In her obituary it was stated that she was born August 10, 1874 and came to America with her parents and siblings when she was seven.
