Her father died when she was only four years old . Her mother remarries to Hermann Werning but she continues to be listed on the census as a Drees.
In 1882 she marries Joseph Noethe. They adopt two children: John Anthony and Maymie Gladys. The family continues to live in Iowa until 1920 when they move to Elkton, SD. They own a farm until 1920. At that time they move into Elkton. Their son John continues to live with them. On the 1920 census he is listed as a clerk in a grocery store. Joseph is a caretaker at the parochial school. They've also got a male roomer and two female roomers who teach school.
In 1936, Joseph died. She continues to live in the same house and is listed as self supporting.
Her stone can be found in St. Mary's Cemetery just east of town. If you stand looking at the cross the stone is to the left in that same section. The stone looks like it was tossed there...almost on top of another grave?
