Katherine Elizabeth Laber, 89, died Wednesday, March 22, 1989, in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness. She was born Sept. 18, 1899, in Susunundal, Russia, and had been a resident of Port Huron since 1924. She married Henry Laber Nov. 25, 1920, in Russia. He died Nov. 25, 1975.

Mrs. Laber was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Brotherhood of the Missions Hall.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Isabelle Laber and Frederick and Patricia Laber, all of Port Huron; four daughters, Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Arkels of Port Huron, Mrs. Walter (Rose) Gulley of Maryland, Mrs. William (Mary) Janke of Lakeland and Mrs. Rodney (Katherine) Grahn of Westminster, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, David, Feb. 10, 1979.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Edwin G. Mendenhall of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
