Lucile M. Cook – age 102, of Pocahontas, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Lucille Monica Wienhold was born on March 27, 1914, near Havelock, Iowa. She was the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Miller) Wienhold. Lucille attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Mallard. On March 16, 1935, Lucille was united in marriage to Robert Cook in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She worked as a cook at Maple Hill School and then as a nurse’s aid at the Holy Family Hospital and then at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. She retired in 1985. Robert passed away in 1989. In 1992, Lucille moved to Pocahontas.

Lucille was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society, Catholic Daughters of America and a past member of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club and Holy Family Parish in Estherville.

Survivors include her sister, Pauline Hotovec of Loveland, CO; brother, Leo Wienhold of Waterloo and several in-laws and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; infant son, Merle; son, Cletus; sister, Norene Keerbs and brothers, Bernard, Vincent, Rupert and Virgil Wienhold.
