Pauline (Weinhold) Hotovec, age 96, passed away in Loveland, Colorado on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Miller) Wienhold and was born on June 26, 1927, one of eight children. Pauline grew up on a farm near Havelock, Iowa and graduated school in Ware, Iowa. On April 10th 1948 she was united in marriage to Florent Hotovec at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Pauline and Florent raised their four children in Pocahontas, Iowa. She worked as a clerk in the county property assessor office until her retirement. Pauline took pride in her involvement at Sacred Heart Catholic church where she and Florent were members until their move to Colorado in 2004. She loved baking and was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, kolaches, cakes, cookies and bars. Every year she grew a large garden and canned fruit, tomato juice, and dilly beans. She loved counting the number of jars she and Florent would put up every year.

As a young wife, she lived in a farmhouse without indoor plumbing or electricity. The first electric refrigerator they owned was purchased second hand from a friend around 1950. The refrigerator represented an ease of household labor and still worked when she moved out of her home into assisted living in 2019. In her lifetime, Pauline experienced a rapid change of technology from cooking on a corn-cob stove and reading by kerosene lantern to using email and cell phones. She impressed her family by her willingness to learn how to use an ipad and email. She loved corresponding and was known to her grandchildren for faithfully sending birthday cards, as well as cards for other holidays.

She is survived by four children, Jim (Darlene Schuster), Loveland, Colorado; Rick (Jolene), Storm Lake, Iowa; Mary Kay (Roger) Bollard, Flagstaff, Arizona and Marty (Kelly), Rapid City, South Dakota; nine grandchildren, Matt Hotovec (Jennifer), Powell, Wyoming; Jennifer (Michael) Haug, Loveland, Colorado; Codi (Diego) Delgadillo, Loveland, Colorado; Chad (Staci) Hotovec, Mumbai, India; Emily (Garret) Fickbohm, Strasberg, Colorado; Zach (Kate) Bollard, Roselle, Illinois; Trisha (Dani) Correa, Chicago, Illinois; Madi Hotovec, Phoenix, Arizona and Molli (Josh) Harris, Phoenix, Arizona; sixteen great grandchildren, Jenna, Abby, Julian, Amelie, Elise, Joe, Jillian, Thomas, Iris, Caden, Christopher, Jonathan, Maddi, Baylynn, Tynlee, Hazen, and one great-great grandson, Kitt. Preceded in death are her beloved husband, parents, all of her siblings and daughter-in-law Diann.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 West 12th Street, Loveland, CO 80537. Rosary at 10am. Mass at 11am.

The family would like to sincerely thank Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living staff and Dignity Hospice for their loving care and friendship to Pauline.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home 1102 Lincoln Avenue Loveland, Colorado 80537 honoring Dignity Hospice or Plenty Farms, a community supported garden
