A physician and surgeon who specialized in dermatology, Dr. Regensburger was involved with San Francisco's Polyclinic, which offered free medical services to the poor and indigent of the city.

He was appointed to the State Board of Health by California's Governor Markham in 1891.

In that same year he, along with Drs. George Shiels and John Morse, secured two wards of the City and County Hospital in which their Polyclinc could offer more than just dispensary services.

In 1892, he was president and a member of the faculty of the Polyclinic, which was also a teaching facility for the University of California's Medical Department.

He married 'Mollie' Meyer Stege, daughter of Mrs. J.R. Stege of San Francisco and granddaughter of Christopher Meyer of New York City, on 29 Dec 1888 at her mother's home. His niece, Vera Helmrich, and sister Emma took part in the ceremony.
