Edward C. Karl, 72, Ex-Contractor, Dies
Edward C. Karl, 72, farmer of Route 2, Dover, died Sunday at 5:45 p.m. in his home after a months illness. Mr. Karl, former service director of Dover under Mayor Ray Stucky, also formerly was associated in the Karl & Steitz Co. sewer contracting business here.
Mr. Karl was born July 9, 1875 near his present home west of Schneiter’s Crossing. His parents were the late Peter and Sarah Auman Karl.
Surviving are his widow, Frances Eiler Karl; four children, Mrs. Albert Pfister of Dover, John, Rose Anne and Edward of the home; a brother, Henry D. Karl of Dover and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Wilhelm of Pittsburgh. A son, Vincent, died in 1934. Three sisters, Rose, Mary and Sister Maurice, and two brothers, William and John Karl, preceded him in death.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s church, Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society.
Solemn Requiem High Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s church with Rev. Fr. Maynard officiating. Friends may call at the Toland Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rosary will be said at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
