Archie A. Beran, of Milton, WI, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his daughters. He was born on May 19, 1929, in Muscoda, WI, son of Mildred Hanley Beran and Joseph Beran. He graduated from Milton High School, 1947. He furthered his education by attending the UW Agriculture Short Course for 2 years. Archie started working for Milton Co-Op. After working at the Co-Op, he became a milk hauler for Duane Arnold. Archie then became a proud dairy farmer for 38 years. After leaving the farm, Archie got a job at Trostel Limited in Whitewater, where he worked for 10 years and then retired. Archie married his beloved wife, Marian Elizabeth Powers, on September 16, 1950. With the early death of Marians parents, Archie and Marian started their life together by raising her two sisters, Janet and Joan. Along with Marian's sisters, Archie also raised four daughters and two sons.
Archie loved to watch the Badgers, Brewers, Cubs and Packers. In addition to watching sports he loved watching RFD TV and Old Westerns. He particularly enjoyed going to Parkview Cafe twice a day, socializing with friends. Anyone that knew Archie knew that he was an avid polka dancer. Archie and Marian were members of the Wisconsin Polka Booster Association for many years, and enjoyed spending time with their numerous polka friends. He had a special fondness for his neighbors and considered them his second family. If you could not find Archie at Parkview Cafe, you would probably find him in his backyard, either watering his flowers, or caring for the pond he loved so much.
Archie is survived by Marian's sister, Joan (Bob) Urban of Janesville; children: Deb (Jim) Riederer of Madison, Dan Beran, Theresa (Mark) Olsen of Denmark, Tim (Becky) Beran of Dacula, GA, Kim (Tim) Cornelius of Waterford, and Rebecca (Jason Marshall) Beran of Rockford, IL. Archie had ten grandchildren: Anthony Riederer and Allison (Jesse Davis) Riederer, Melissa Beran, Jessica (Bronson Johnson) Beran, Josh (Christine) Beran, Katie (Ryan) Olsen-Knappenberger, Emily (Drew) Beran-Randall, Chris Beran, Alexis Beran and Darby Confer; he also had eight great-grandchildren. Archie was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; his parents, Mildred Hanley Beran and Joseph Beran; three sisters; and two brothers.
