News Item in The Age of Nov. 5, 1869: The Kilmore Free Press records the very sudden death of Mr Garret Cahill, farmer, No. 3 Creek. Mr Cahill had some business to transact at the Springfield Road Board on Monday last, and upon his return home in the evening, and when close to the west corner of Frazer's old pre-emptive right, the horse he was riding jammed him against the limb of a tree. The unfortunate gentleman never spoke afterwards, and died about an hour after the accident. He leaves a wife and a large family of young children.
