Bernadine Joyce Stahlhut was born on August 5, 1928, in Waterloo, IA, to Otto and Caroline (Raatz) Dietz. In 1946, she graduated from East High School in Waterloo IA.
On April 25, 1948, she married Virgil Stahlhut and had two sons.
They worked at a local paint shop in Rochester for a few years and later divorced.
In 1967, Bernadine started working at IBM and retired in 1992 working as a computer programmer.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, and quilting.
Bernadine participated in her home owner’s association serving as secretary and treasurer and was an active member at United Redeemer Lutheran Church where she joined the Stephen Ministries. Her household and family was very important to her.
Bernadine is survived by her sons, David (Barbara) Stahlhut of Jacksons Gap, AL and Daniel (Carol) Stahlhut of Fair Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Austin, Michael Stahlhut, Andrew (Marianne) Stahlhut, Morgan Stahlhut; five great-grandchildren; and niece, Cheryl Christiansen.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her sister, Eva Christiansen and brother, LeRoy Dietz.
