OBITUARY Iron River Reporter October 5 1934 "Kowalski Rites Held Yesterday: Aged Resident of Stambaugh Succumbed After Year's Illness"
Last rites were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the St. Peter's Lutheran church, in Stambaugh, for Charles Kowalski, 84, who died Tuesday afternoon at 1:40 o'clock at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. Alice [should be Mrs. Alex] Kosloske, 221 Fourth street, Stambaugh, after a year's illness.
The Rev. R. Marti, pastor, officiated and burial was made at Stambaugh cemetery beside the body of the deceased man's wife, who preceeded him in death by 25 years.
Pallbearers were John Eike, Stambaugh township; Robert Ende, Baumgartner district; Adolph and Julius Kosloske, Stambaugh; Delisky, Stambaugh; and Frank Rollin, Stambaugh.
Mr. Kowalski was born in Russia and came to this country 40 years ago, settling in Stambaugh where he since lived. He worked as a miner and farmer during most of that time but eight years ago retired and took up his residence with the Kosloske family.
He had been confined to his bed the last year since falling in October, 1933, and fracturing a hip.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A.H. Proksch of Iron River and Mrs. Fred Bloom of Milwaukee; two step-daughters, Mrs. Kosloske and Mrs. Edward Franke of the Baumgartner district; and a step-son Adolphe Steinke, also of the Baumgartner district.
He was a member of St. Peter's church.
