1892: OBITUARY of husband Charles Kowalski 1934 mentions stepdaughters Mrs. Alice Kosloske of Stambaugh and Mrs. Edward Franke of the Baumgartner district, and a stepson Adolphe Franke of the Baumgartner district. She must have been married twice. Steinke children (Adolph, Julia, Anna) were born 1883, 1886, 1889 and Kowalski children (Marie & Clara) were born 1893 & 1895, so she must have remarried about 1892.
1891: OBITUARY of daughter Anna Franke 1978 does not name her parents but says she was born 1889 and came to the area from Milwaukee when she was two years old.
1890: Descendant Ginger Terrien says that Katherine's first husband Adolph Steinke Sr. died in Milwaukee of a burst appendix when daughter Anna was a baby. This must have been about 1890.
