Betty Lucille (House) Berry, born May 26, 1944, went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2017 at 7:29pm, 16 days before her 73rd Birthday. Proceeded in death by her parents Jesse Dalphia and Clara (Elkins) House of Lavaca , two brothers- JD and Woody House of Lavaca, and three sisters- Delca Hewitt of Springdale, Eunice Waggoner of Fort Smith and Wilma Watson of Ratcliff, AR. Betty was born and raised in Arbuckle Island, attending school at Lavaca through the 9th grade at which time she had to quit school to help her family work the fields.
Betty married the love of her life on Oct. 13, 1962 and moved to Charleston, AR. Where she began her life as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She started her working career at the Bloomer chicken plant until she found her love for cooking. She later worked at Hunts, Woolco and later retired with 20 years at Red Lobster in Fort Smith, AR. She loved to cook and feed others, she loved nothing more than getting her hair done every Friday, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she loved the Lord. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Lavaca. She was a giving, loving lady, who helped and opened her home to raising many nieces, nephews, family and friends of her children. She was a former Sunday school teacher and youth director at Central Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years; Sidney L. Berry of Charleston, three sons, and one daughter; Delbert and wife Carrie Berry of Van Buren. Dewayne and wife Kathi Berry of Charleston, Dale and wife Leah Berry of Charleston, one daughter Karren and husband Jon Robison of Charleston. Eleven grandkids, Latosha Berry-Cozort and husband Nicholas of Greenwood, Steven Creek and Ashley of Fort Smith, Jakob Berry of Fort Smith, Braylee and Kenley Berry of Van Buren, Kyndal Berry of Charleston, Aryana, Adi and Abbigail Robison of Charleston, Gracie and Pyper Berry of Charleston, three great grandkids, Ashley, Tobey and Derek Cozort of Greenwood and one younger sister, Connie Cox of Fort Smith and many beloved Nephews and Nieces.
The family will receive visits with family and friends on Friday May 12, 2017 from 6-8pm at Smith Mortuary in Charleston and funeral will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017,at 9am at the Smith Mortuary Chapel with Burial/Graveside at Measles Cemetery in Lavaca.
