Louis John Drees, born November 20, 1925, in Carroll, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008. Mr. Drees was a decorated veteran of World War II having been a mine sweeper in the U.S. Army Infantry Division. Mr. Drees was a mechanical engineer who owned his own plumbing company as well as being a contracting estimator. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lavonne and Maxine; his brother, Doug; and his beloved son, Patrick (Tom). He is survived by his wife, Freda (Teddy); and his children, Linda (Roy) Bertolet, Catherine (Jim) Drees, Louis Daniel Drees, Michael (Toni) Drees; and seven loving grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Kayla, Nicholas, Samantha, Elizabeth and Shannon. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy; and his brothers, Howard and Don, all of whom reside in Iowa. Services will be held Friday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brendan's Catholic Church. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
