She was born to Henry and Hilda (Middendorf) Barhorst. On Nov. 18, 1950, she married Francis Shappie who survives.
Alsos surviving are a son, David (Cindy), Sidney; two daughters, Debbie (John) Wooddell, and Darlene (Kent) Mullen, all Sidney; five brothers, James (Lucille) and Harry, all Sidney, Dennis (Alice), Beavercreek, Lester (Jean), Fort Loramie, and Henry Jr. (Pat), Minster; four sisters, Thelma (Edward) Luebke, Kettering, Janet (Barney) Koverman, Fort Loramie, Betty Grilliot, Newport, and Mary Ann Davis, Sidney; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers.
She retired from the former Val Decker Packing Company, Piqua, after 32 years. She was a 1948 graduate of Fort Loramie High School and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, the 1099 Retirees Club, Dayton, and was a chicken fryer for the Fort Loramie American Legion post.
