Parkston – Lena Louise Bialas, 89, went to her heavenly home with her family by her side on her birthday, Saturday, March 17 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 21 at 10:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Dimock. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20 from 5 – 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Dimock. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Lena was born March 17, 1929 to Paul and Lena (Blume) Reimnitz in Parkston. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Dimock. She was number six in line of five brothers and two sisters and grew up on the family farm 10 miles west of Ethan. She attended rural Tobin #1 school, graduated from Ethan High School and received her teaching certificate from Notre Dame Academy in Mitchell. She taught for five years in Rural Davison County and was employed for 24 years with the Mt. Vernon School System as a substitute teacher and working as an aide in the kitchen. She was united in marriage to Ivan W. Bialas on April 8, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married for nearly 67 years before he passed away on December 16, 2017. They enjoyed going to many dances over the years. Lena was involved in the work of the church teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and catechism for umpteen years. Two of her many favorite verses were Ephesians 2:8 and Psalms 27:1. Her words of wisdom would be "to always believe in Jesus and trust in all His promises". She would always include a bible verse in the many notes and cards she wrote through the years.

Thankful and blessed for having shared her life are her 5 children: Delila "Dee" (Ervin) Fink of Armour; Ivan Jr. (Deb) Bialas of Mitchell; Joel (Nancy) Bialas of Marion; Cindy (Dan) Roth of Mitchell; and Julie (Ron) Healy of Hartford; 14 grandchildren: Reggie Fink, Jeremy Fink, Casey Bialas, Danica Proctor, Tyson Bialas, Joslyn Durfee, Jessica Hollingshead, Sam Fernandez, Lanae Larson, Kayla Squier, Natalie Kriese, Megan Roth, Janell Healy, and Ryan Healy; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Doris and Wilma Reimnitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Ivan; a grandson, Jhett Bialas; 5 brothers: Louis, George, Leonard, Paul and Robert Reimnitz; 2 sisters: Dorothy Stahl and Lydia Sigmund; a nephew, Russell Reimnitz; and 3 nieces, Donna Peacock, Carol Stahl and Dianne Roth.
