Funeral services for 79 year old Geraldine Nemitz of Northport, Alabama, will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 2nd at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, with burial in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Geraldine passed away July 20th at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Survivors include Debra Hagar and her husband, Jerry of Northport, Alabama, Cathy Rosenow of Marion, IA, Ken Rosenow and his wife, Bev of Jefferson, IA, Richard Blair and his wife, Connie of Minnesota, James Blair and his wife, Patty of Lake Ozark, Missouri, and Jared Young of Denison, IA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Suntken and his wife Mary of Arkansas; other relatives and friends. Geraldine “Geri” Elizabeth Nemitz was born December 14, 1938, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Johan and Gerdine Suntken. She passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the age of seventy-nine.
Geri received her education in the Denison Community Schools. She was united in marriage to Ernest Rosenow in 1956 and was later married to Levi Blair in 1960 making their home in Vail, Iowa. On January 5, 1980, Geri was united in marriage to Fred Nemitz, Jr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They made their home in Denison where Geri was employed at Farmland and World Wide Meats. She also had been employed at Marvin’s Provisions in Vail, Iowa.
Geri was an excellent homemaker and particularly enjoyed cooking, especially making big meals. She also found great pleasure in having coffee with her friends. Doing crossword puzzles and playing Euchre and Monopoly were favorite pastimes for her. She also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Christmas stories, Centennial, North and South, and Pride and Prejudice.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Fred Jr.; eight brothers: Henry, Bill, Arnold, George, Richard, Clarence, Fred and John; five sisters: Clara in infancy, Nellie, Elizabeth, Wilkelina and Dena. Survivors include two daughters: Debra and her husband, Jerry; and Cathy; four sons: Ken and his wife, Bev; Richard and his wife, Connie; James and his wife, Patty; and Jerad; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry and his wife, Mary; other relatives and friends.

She also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Christmas stories, Centennial, North and South, and Pride and Prejudice.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Fred Jr.; eight brothers: Henry, Bill, Arnold, George, Richard, Clarence, Fred and John; five sisters: Clara in infancy, Nellie, Elizabeth, Wilkelina and Dena.
