Lillian Lokker was born on February 19, 1917, to William and Alvina Possehl Kindler in Lyon, Minnesota, USA. She grew up on the family farm with her 12 brothers and sisters and attended country school. She moved to Garretson, South Dakota in 1935 to care for her sister's children after she died. On July 24, 1939, she and Kenneth V. Lokker were married in Tyler, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton. Lillian lived in various places after Kenny entered the service in WWII. She worked at the Gray Mfg. Defense Plant making gun shell caps in Plano, Illinois. In 1945, she returned to Slayton and worked at various jobs in the area. After retirement, they spent several winters in Arizona. Kenny died on March 17, 1989. Lillian continued living in Slayton and moved to the Westside Apartments. Due to failing health she moved to Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda in January 2004 and passed away there on April 1, 2005, at the age of 88. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton and belonged to WELCA. She also belonged to the Slayton WFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America, Happy Homemakers of Slayton, Minnesota Senior Federation and card club.
Survivors include two sons: David Lokker and his wife Suzanne, St. Charles, IA and Dan Lokker and his special friend, Lillian Davila, Wilmont, MN; three granddaughters; two sisters: Hannah Jensen, Ruthton, MN and Luella Peterson, Russell, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Kenny; six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton, MN on Monday, April 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dan DeBlock officiating. The organist was Twyla Hungerford. The pallbearers were Chuck Terry, Rodney Plantz, Randy Peterson, Gary DeJong, Clayton Peterson and Lee Lokker. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
