Donald Blaine Tuft, 81, passed away peacefully Thurs. January 24th, 2019 surrounded by family. A great husband, father, brother, uncle, coach, friend, and hero will be greatly missed and forever loved.
on was born to Hans Albert and Vivian Lois Reed Tuft on Aug. 25, 1937 in Lawrence, Utah. Being raised in the South Cottonwood and Murray areas and attended the following schools: Woodstock, Oakwood, Arlington, Murray Junior High, Murray High, Olympus High. Later he pursued his Education and Coaching degrees while attending the University of Utah, Utah State, Weber State and graduated from Brigham Young University. Don taught and coached at the following schools: Lincoln County Nevada, Viewmont High, Beaver High, North Summit High, Intermountain Indian, Sunset Junior High. At Beaver High School his football team had nine state championships. While in high school he participated in football, baseball, tennis and some basketball then participated in baseball at BYU.
Don served eight years in the National Guard with six months active duty at Ford Ord, CA and Fort Chaffee, AK. In 1957, Don served a mission in the Central States. On April 19, 1962 he was sealed to Nadene Marie Johnson in the SLC Temple. Don always felt Nadene brought much sunshine and happiness into his life. Her strong testimony was a great compass for the family. Together, they served in the Ogden, Brigham, and Nauvoo LDS Temples, at the Conference Center, and the Nauvoo Mission at many restored Nauvoo Sites particularly Carthage Jail. He spent his time golfing, painting, gardening, watching sports and enjoying family.
At the time of Don’s passing, he and Nadene had eight children, 36 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His children are: Gregory K. (Elaine) Tuft, Vivian R. (Curtis) Rindlisbacher, Blaine A (Dianna) Tuft, Duke A. (Esther) Tuft, Kathy M. (Eddie) Jex, April D. (Jake) Storms, Matthew L. (Bethany) Tuft, Jason R (Tori) Tuft. Don’s brothers and sisters were Leland, Roberta, Joy, Jay, Noel, and Sharon. He is survived by his sister, Fairie Hawkins.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Hargis Hill Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W., Willard, UT.
Viewings will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Church.
Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
