KENTUCKIAN BESTOWED CAKES AND CHICKEN SOUP
Longtime Staten Islander Rita Pisano, a homemaker who treasured her family, died of leukemia on Wednesday in HPH Hospice, Spring Hill, FL. Her age was 76. Born Rita Howard in Owensboro, KY, she moved to Port Richmond in 1953 and to West Brighton in 1965. She relocated to Spring Hill in 2008. A parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta R.C. Church, West Brighton, Ms. Pisano was a thoughtful woman who baked cakes to cheer people up and made chicken soup for those who were sick. Above all, she enjoyed spending time at home with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her leisure time, she visited Atlantic City and went shopping. "She was a fun-loving person," said her daughter Michelle Pisano-Rivera. "She just loved being around her family." John, Mrs. Pisano's husband of 45 years, died in 1998. Along with her daughter, Michelle, surviving are her four sons, John Jr., Robert, William and Michael; her daughter, Gina Pisano-Tritto; two sisters, Beatrice Wooldridge and Margaret Mattingly; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements, including a private memorial service and cremation, are being handled by the Downing Funeral Home, Spring Hill.
