Margaret H. Mattingly, 87, of Owensboro passed away peacefully Sunday, July 15, 2012, after a prolonged illness at her home. She was born in Daviess County to the late Sherman A. & Mary Ethel (Knott) Howard of Browns Valley. She retired from General Electric, and a few years after retirement, she became a volunteer for the Daniel Pitino Shelter soup kitchen, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, plants, flowers and University of Kentucky basketball. Her husband of 67 years, Delbert Mattingly preceded her in death in May 2011, as well as sisters, Elizabeth "Aunt Bibbus" Chissom, Rosalia Harper, Linnie Bowlds and Rita Pisano. Surviving are her children, Carol Vaughn and Bob Mattingly, both of Owensboro; her sister, Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Wooldridge; and many nieces and nephews.
