Elsie Irene (Friebus) Sebesta passed away January 10, 2020 at Wilson Care & Rehab at the age of 92. Elsie was born on June 14, 1927 to John and Lydia (Wallert) Friebus in Dorrance, Kansas. She attended Dorrance schools and graduated from Dorrance High School in 1945.
Elsie married Ernest Sebesta on June 27, 1945 in Wilson, Kansas. She was a farm housewife and a member of the Holyrood Chapter #420 OES.
Survivors include daughters, Linda (Michael) Yehly of Grovetown, GA and Donna Schierkolk of Penokee, KS; son, Duane (Shelly) Sebesta of Wilson, KS; granddaughters, Alisa Reeves, Dana Stoughton, and Jenna Ellis; grandson, Todd Yehle; step-grandson, Willie Schierkolk; great-granddaughters, Josie Stoughton and Adley Ellis, and a great-grandchild due in May; sister, Violet Stull of Salina, KS; and brother, Leo Friebus of Russell, KS.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lydia; sisters, Eva Mae Schmidt, Emma Smith, and Ella Rumley; and brothers, Ernest Friebus and Melvin Friebus.
A private family service with the spreading of the ashes will be held at a later date on the first section of land she and Ernest owned, also where Ernest’s ashes were spread. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Shriners Burn Center and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, PO Box 533, Wilson, KS 67490.
