William Foxhoven, son of John and Katherine Foxhoven was born at Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, January 23, 1869 and died at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs July 5, 1953.
He moved with his family to Westphalia, Iowa when he was a small boy. On June 9, 1896, at St. Boniface Church, he was married to Anna Engel of Westphalia. They were the parents of fourteen children, two of whom died in infancy. Two other children died at an early age. Alfred at the age of five and Rose at two years.
Mr and Mrs Foxhoven lived on a farm east of Earling for 45 years. They retired and moved into Earling in 1940.
He is survived by five sons, Ted, Henry, Ralph and Albert of Earling and Bernard of Blanchard, Iowa and five daughters; Mrs Katie Sandbothe, Mrs Kunnie Fuhs, Mrs Isabelle Stein, Mrs Cecelia Grund all of Portsmouth and Mrs Matilda Healey of Earling; two sister, Mrs Christina Lefeber of Portsmouth and Mrs Katie Kirkpatrick of Omaha; two brothers, John of Manilla and Tony of Denver; thirty-two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
A Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph's church at Earling, July 7 with Rev. P.A. Bissen officiated with Rev. N. Gaul and Rev. J. Weiss of Portsmouth assisting. Pallbearers were all grandchildren of the deceased; Bill and Bob Fuhs, Leo Foxhoven, raymond Stein and Harold and Celestin Foxhoven. Burial was in the Earling Cemetery.
