Wilbert Becker, 61, of 1232 S. 21st St., died Thursday night at University Hospital, Madison. He had been in failing health for the past nine weeks.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Sheboygan, son of Henry and Julia Metzler Becker. He attended Ebenezer Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1940. Mr. Becker served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater.
On June 5, 1946, he married June Kneevers of Sheboygan at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
He was employed as a carpenter for Henry Becker & Sons for eight years, for Kingsbury Brewery for 17 years, and for the past 10 years was head custodian at James Madison Elementary School. Mr. Becker was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he was an usher, and was a member of Northeastern Wisconsin Engineers and Custodial Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Timothy L. of Elkhart Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Stephanie) Hansen of Haven; five grandchildren; two brothers, Waldemar of Forest Park, Ill., and Roland of Sheboygan.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a m. Tuesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Groth, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels after 4 p.m. Monday and at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.
