Mr. Waldemar Becker, age 92, entered into rest Tuesday. February 1, 2006 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. Becker was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Sylvia Schultz Becker.
He was born in Sheboygan, lived most of his adult life in the Chicago area and spent the last six years in the Augusta area. Mr. Becker was a phenomenal athlete; he played semi-pro baseball, basketball, and football, as well as enjoying and excelling in golf and bowling. Later in life he served as a coach in the sports that he loved so much. Before his retirement, Mr. Becker was employed by Abel Howe as the superintendent of construction.
He was a devout member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and loved the church, its staff and congregation. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Family members include a son, James W. Becker of Evans; one daughter, Beth Ann Borke and her husband James, of Martinez; four grandchildren, Andrea Becker, Bree Ann Borke Joiner, Anna Borke, and Michael Borke; and seven nieces and nephews, Julie Becker Olson, Stephanie Becker Knauf, Diane Becker Lassila, Karen Becker, Randy Becker, Kerry Becker and Tim Becker.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2006 from Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Dunker officiating. Committal services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. Ballhorn Funeral Chapel will be in charge of the committal services in Sheboygan.
