Born November 9, 1932 in Dover, he was a son of the late Gurney O. and Erma (Shaffer) Gross, Sr.
Carl graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a proofreader and retired from Bi-Comp in the mid 1990's.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover and the Veteran's Administration. Carl loved to ride his bicycle through the back roads and countryside of Dover. He also enjoyed bowling and yardwork.
In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by a daughter, Janine M. Paff of York; a son, Brian E. Gross and wife, Sandy of Dallastown; and two grandchildren, Aaron M. Gross and Callie E. Paff. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gurney O. Gross, Jr. and Velma J. Slothower.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Carl's funeral at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Abigail Leese. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving his family.
