Lawrence J. "Larry" Koester age 66 of Newton passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.

Larry was born on January 1, 1950 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Joseph and Helen (Hoelscher) Koester. On September 17, 1972, Larry married Linda K. Clagg in Newton, Illinois. She survives. Larry served his country for six years in the National Guard. He spent his life farming, raising grain and livestock.

Larry was a member of the Latona Church of Christ, the Jasper County Farm Bureau, and the Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and enjoyed time in the outdoors. His favorite time was that spent with his grandson Drake.

Larry will be loved and remembered by his wife Linda K. Koester of Newton, sons Keven Koester of Newton and Chad Koester of Newton; grandson Drake Koester of Olney, IL; brother Gerry Koester, wife Linette of Ashmore, IL and sisters JoAnn Johnston, husband Bob of Neoga, IL and Elaine Laue of Atlanta, GA.

His parents and brothers Maurice Koester and Bill Koester preceded him in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Larry may be made to either the Jasper Cancer Support Fund or to the Latona Church of Christ.
